New Delhi, Jan 8, 2025 – V Narayanan, a distinguished scientist and director of the Liquid Propulsion Systems Centre( LPSC) at ISRO, has been named the new Chairman of the Indian Space Research Organisation( ISRO) and Secretary, of the Department of Space. He’ll assume the position on January 14, succeeding S Somanath, whose term witnessed groundbreaking achievements, including the major Chandrayaan- 3 charge.
The movables Committee of the Cabinet blazoned Mr. Narayanan’s two-time term on Tuesday. Known for his vital part in advancing India’s cryogenic propulsion capabilities, Mr. Narayanan has been a driving force behind technologies pivotal to ISRO’s space disquisition and satellite launch operations.
Expressing his vision, Mr. Narayanan said, “ We’ve a clear roadmap for India’s space trials. I’m committed to elevating ISRO’s success further, using the immense gift within the association. ”
With an outstanding career gauging nearly four decades, Mr. Narayanan joined ISRO in 1984 and has ago been necessary in the development of slice- edge propulsion systems for launch vehicles and satellites. A Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering and a tableware Semifinalist in M.Tech from IIT Kharagpur, he brings unmatched moxie to his new part.
As Chairman of the Space Commission and the Project Management Council- Space Transportation System, Mr. Narayanan has overseen critical programs, including Gaganyaan, India’s demoiselle mortal spaceflight charge.
