Complaints rise over new fare structure for Dhule, Nashik and other routes
Nandurbar news: From Saturday, the Maharashtra State Transport (ST) department has implemented fare hikes on various routes including Nandurbar to Dhule, Nashik, and other cities. The revised fare has led to dissatisfaction among passengers, who now have to bear the burden of paying extra at irregular rates. Many passengers were not aware of the hike, leading to disputes between the carrier and passengers over fare differences.
Fare hike details and concessions
The new fare structure has seen an increase of Rs 22 for Dhule and Rs 48 for Nashik. For example, the fare from Nandurbar to Dhule has been increased to Rs 162 (previously Rs 140), while the fare from Nashik has been increased to Rs 378 (previously Rs 330). Similarly, fares have also been hiked on routes to other major cities like Mumbai, Pune and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. Despite the hike, there has been no change in concessions for women, senior citizens and the disabled, while free travel is still available for those above 75 years of age.
Passengers’ concerns over small change and fare confusion
One of the key issues arising from the fare hike is that passengers are struggling to get exact change due to odd-numbered fare hikes. There have been several complaints of arguments over small change, causing inconvenience to both passengers and the conductors. Many are now being advised to carry small denominations to avoid confusion and conflicts during travel.
The fare hike has now come into effect, but state transport authorities are already working to resolve complaints arising from the implementation.(Nandurbar news)
Conclusion: Tensions continue over the increased fare structure
The latest fare hike has left many passengers frustrated, as they were confused by the price hike. As the weekend wore on, the number of complaints about fare hike-related disputes increased. The problem of marginal change is likely to persist until passengers and carriers adjust to the new pricing structure.
