Shahada, Maharashtra – The taluka level Scout and Guide meet held at Mission High School, Shahada saw a disappointing attendance, with only 35 teachers from Shahada and Dhadgaon talukas participating. The event, organized on the orders of the Secondary Education Officer, provided a platform to discuss key initiatives and training for the Bharat Scouts and Guides program in the district.
The meeting was chaired by Mission High School Principal Chandana Nathani, while Sudhakar Sakhre (Organising Commissioner of Scouts), Narendra Gurav (Assistant District Coach) and senior coaches Ashok Patil, Yosef Gavit and Pankaj Shirsat acted as keynote speakers and mentors.
During the meeting, Ashok Patil gave insights on preparing progress cards for class 10 students. Meanwhile, Sudhakar Sakhre and Narendra Gurav highlighted the programmes like “Real Earnings from Service”, State Award Examination and progressive stages in Scouting, such as Pratham Sopan, Dwitthi Sopan and Tritthi Sopan.
Despite over 200 secondary schools and 100+ Scouts and Guides registered in both the talukas, only 39% of the expected attendance was present. This extremely low attendance has raised concerns about the lack of interest and commitment toward the Scouts and Guides program.
Officials expressed disappointment, noting that such apathy could hinder the program’s objectives of inculcating discipline, teamwork, and service among students. The administration is expected to review policies to improve participation in future meetings and activities.
