Prayagraj, January 24, 2025 – The Maha Kumbh Mela, which began on January 13 at the Triveni Sangam in Prayagraj, has witnessed an overwhelming turnout of over 100 million devotees, according to the Uttar Pradesh government. As of Thursday afternoon, the milestone was officially confirmed by the local administration.
The number of pilgrims continues to grow daily, with millions arriving to take a sacred dip in the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and the mythical Saraswati rivers, seeking spiritual merit. The Uttar Pradesh government had previously projected that 450 million devotees would visit this year’s Kumbh, making it one of the largest religious gatherings in the world.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah emphasized that the Kumbh Mela sends a powerful message of unity and harmony, transcending all religious, sectarian, and caste divisions. “There is no place for discrimination here. The Kumbh is a celebration of togetherness and oneness,” Shah remarked, highlighting the inclusive spirit of the event.
Devotees from across India and the globe continue to arrive with great enthusiasm, taking part in this spiritually significant occasion, which is revered as a symbol of unity and devotion.
