Nandurbar Horror: Doctors Save Man’s Life After Deadly Nylon Manja Incident

Nandurbar, January 14, 2025 – A horrific incident during the Makar Sankranti celebrations in Nandurbar has once again highlighted the dangers of nylon thread. In a tragic incident, a young man’s throat was severely slit with a sharp thread, almost costing him his life. The quick action of the doctors not only saved the victim but also highlighted the urgent need for stricter regulations on the sale and use of this dangerous substance.

The incident took place when 23-year-old Suraj Yuvraj Sool, a resident of Jagtapwadi and a local vendor, was going to work on his two-wheeler. While he was crossing a flyover in the city, a nylon thread got stuck in his neck, rupturing critical blood vessels and trachea. Suraj collapsed on the spot and bled profusely.

Bystanders rushed him to a nearby private hospital, where Dr. The medical team led by Dr. Rajesh Vasave performed an emergency surgery. According to Dr. Vasave, the injuries were serious, with extensive damage to the trachea and vital blood vessels. Suraj had bled profusely. More than 100 stitches were required and reconnecting the trachea and blood vessels was a complex procedure. Fortunately, we managed to stabilise him and he is now out of danger,” he said.(Nandurbar news)

The incident comes a day after the death of seven-year-old Kartik Eknath Gorve. Seven-year-old Kartik Eknath Gorve had his throat cut by a nylon manja while he was riding a motorbike with his grandfather. Even after being taken to the district hospital, he died due to excessive bleeding.

Citizens are angry over the lack of enforcement against the illegal sale of nylon manja. While the authorities have taken some measures, activists are demanding stricter bans and increased vigilance to prevent further accidents. The local police have assured the public of strict action against manja sellers in the coming days.
