Heatwave Alert: Nandurbar District Gripped by Intense Heatwave as Temperatures Soar to 40°C

Nandurbar, 18 March 2025 – The Nandurbar district is reeling under an unprecedented early-summer heatwave, with temperatures skyrocketing to 40°C by March 15, according to local meteorological reports. The scorching conditions, which began in late February, have disrupted daily life, forcing residents to avoid outdoor activities during peak hours.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) noted that temperatures surged from 35°C in late February to 40°C this week, marking the highest March temperatures in a decade. Roads remain deserted by midday, and hospitals report a spike in heat-related illnesses. Local authorities have issued advisories urging hydration and limited sun exposure.(Nandurbar news)

“This early heatwave is alarming. Nighttime temperatures are also rising, making recovery difficult,” said Dr. Anjali Patil, a public health official. Climate experts warn such events may become frequent due to shifting weather patterns.
