26 Lakh Worth of Illegal Liquor Seized Near Dhadgaon; Two Suspects on the Run

Nandurbar News: In a significant operation, the Local Crime Branch (LCB) seized a large stock of illegal liquor, along with a vehicle, valued at approximately ₹26.3 lakh near Dhadgaon on Sunday. The operation was initiated following a tip-off about an illicit liquor shipment being transported from Mhanswad to Dhadgaon.

LCB Tracks and Intercepts Suspicious Vehicle

According to sources, the LCB was informed about two individuals, Sattar Thackeray and Himat Pawara, who were suspected of transporting illegal liquor towards Dhadgaon. Acting promptly, the LCB set up surveillance along the Mhanswad-Dhadgaon road. As night fell, officers spotted a vehicle matching the description of the one being used for the transport. When the vehicle approached the area near Hatdhui, it attempted to evade a police checkpoint and sped away.

High-Speed Chase Ends in Seizure of Liquor and Vehicle

The police immediately pursued the vehicle and managed to intercept it. However, as soon as it came to a stop, the driver took advantage of the darkness and rugged terrain to flee the scene, abandoning both the vehicle and its valuable cargo. Despite the driver’s escape, the LCB successfully seized the vehicle, which contained a large stash of illicit liquor, estimated at a total value of ₹26,30,000.

Police Investigation and Pursuit of Suspects

Under the leadership of Superintendent of Police Shravan Datt S. and Additional Superintendent of Police Ashit Kamble, the LCB operation was conducted by Inspector Hemant Patil and his team, which included Sub-Inspector Mukesh Pawar, Head Constables Ramesh Salunkhe, Vishal Nagre, Mohan Dhamdhere, Deepak Nhavi, among others. A case has been registered against the two suspects, who remain at large.

The police are continuing their investigation and are actively pursuing the suspects involved in this illegal liquor operation. Authorities have vowed to intensify their efforts to curb the smuggling of illicit goods in the region.
