Nandurbar, Maharashtra: Yohan Arvind Gavit from Navapur taluka of Nandurbar has achieved remarkable success in the fisheries industry under the Prime Minister’s Fisheries Development Scheme. His achievements were recognized on Republic Day as he was selected to participate in the Republic Day parade and the President’s function in Delhi, a proud moment for the district.
Maharashtra Agriculture Minister and Guardian Minister of Nandurbar Shri Manikrao Kokate lauded him for his innovative contribution to the fisheries sector during the 76th Republic Day celebrations. Kokate highlighted that Gavit’s work has not only brought him prosperity but has also empowered other farmers in the region.
In his speech, Kokate said, “Yohan Gavit’s work in fisheries goes beyond personal financial gains. His efforts have helped other farmers thrive in business. By producing fish seeds in their cages and providing them with the necessary equipment, he has created a new outcome, which has helped local farmers turn to fisheries for sustainable income.”(Nandurbar News)
The Minister also highlighted that Gavit’s project has received approval at the central government level. The Maharashtra Fisheries Assistant Commissioner, after reviewing Gavit’s work, submitted a report to the central government, which highlighted the success of his initiative. Gavit’s impact has been transformative, with many farmers in Bhavere village and surrounding areas taking up fisheries and improving their livelihoods.
The event was attended by MP Adv. Gowal Padvi, former MP Dr. Hina Gavit, former Zilla Parishad Chairperson Kumudini Gavit, District Collector Dr. Mitali Sethi, and many other dignitaries.
