Maharashtra to boost tourism with caravan and helicopter services

Mumbai News – The Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) will soon purchase 12 fully equipped caravans. These caravans will offer a unique travel experience, allowing tourists to explore major destinations in the state in comfort. A budget of ₹7.2 crore has been allocated for this initiative, which aims to boost domestic and international tourism.

The caravans will have all the amenities of a luxury hotel like comfortable seating, dining area, kitchen, bathroom, TV, and refrigerator. They will travel through famous hill stations, historical sites, and coastal areas of Maharashtra, giving tourists an unforgettable experience. The state has a rich heritage of over 60 tourist destinations, including popular destinations like Mahabaleshwar, Matheran, Alibaug, and Harihareshwar, as well as numerous forts and beaches.

Along with this, MTDC is exploring the possibility of starting “heli-tourism” to complement caravan travel in places far from urban centres like Mahabaleshwar and Tadoba. A detailed feasibility report will be prepared soon to provide quick access to these popular destinations, similar to the helicopter services offered in Kerala.

MTDC officials are also working to increase the number of foreign and domestic tourists visiting scenic and historical places in Maharashtra. Since caravans are already being used by private entrepreneurs, this initiative aims to provide a similar experience to a wider audience, thereby providing an exciting and new way to explore the attractions of the state.

Tourism officials believe that by combining luxury caravan travel and helicopter services, Maharashtra can attract more tourists and boost the local economy, and such new efforts are expected to significantly increase the tourism appeal of the state.
