18 Health Centers and 44 Sub-Centers in Nandurbar Proposed for Central Quality Certification

Nandurbar, Maharashtra: In a significant step towards improving healthcare in rural areas, 18 health centers and 44 sub-centers in Nandurbar district have been proposed for certification under the National Quality Assurance Standards (NQAS) program initiated by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India. This initiative is part of the central government’s efforts to uplift healthcare facilities in aspirational districts identified by the NITI Aayog.

The district health department has accelerated its efforts to meet the stringent criteria for NQAS certification. These centers are undergoing infrastructural upgrades and staff training to align with global healthcare standards. Once certified, they will set a benchmark in providing high-quality healthcare services in tribal and rural regions.

The NQAS certification process involves an evaluation based on eight key parameters, including patient care, facility management, and staff competency. Nandurbar’s health department has already trained medical officers, health assistants, and auxiliary staff to ensure compliance with the program’s standards.

Dr. Ravindra Sonawane, District Health Officer, shared that after state-level inspections, a central committee will assess the facilities within three months. If successful, these centers will become models of quality healthcare delivery, offering advanced services to pregnant women, children, and senior citizens.

Transforming Healthcare in Rural India

The proposed health centers include key locations like Shanimandal, Lahan Shahade, Natavad, Chinchpada, and others across Nandurbar. Enhanced services, including modern medical equipment and skilled personnel, will cater to the healthcare needs of underserved populations.

With this certification, Nandurbar aims to become the first tribal district in the country to achieve NQAS accreditation, showcasing its commitment to healthcare excellence. The initiative is expected to strengthen public trust in government healthcare services and improve overall health outcomes in the region.

The certification process is slated for completion within three months, marking a transformative milestone in rural healthcare development.
